Dave and Dorothy Kranz moved to Monticello in 1962. Dave followed Lynn and Margaret Smith to the Monticello Times as the newspaper’s linotype operator and printer. In 1975 they bought the printing operation from Lynn and Margaret and began operating under the name of Monticello Printing. They have been at their current location 216 Cedar Street since 1983.

Their daughter, Brenda, started working part-time with her parents in 1975 doing the bookkeeping. She became full-time after graduating from high school in 1979. Their son, Jeff, started working for them full-time in 1982.
After a courageous battle with cancer, Jeff passed away in September 2017. The business is now managed by Brenda, but Dave and Dorothy can occasionally be found at the shop.
